Just went back and re-read Spawn 140-147..

I'm pretty sure the comic shop I ordered mine through closed...at least they never returned my call....

I haven't pick up a comic since just before Nyx went to Hell.

As far as the annimation goes; thought I heard that will be a seperate story line from the comics.

There were two issues done by Nat Jones that take place in Hell... those have a feel somewhere between the normal art and Ashley Wood. Kinda similar to the Sam and Twitch artwork, but with slightly bolder colors.

Those two issues were a "catch up" for the comic... but stylistically, they worked well as the transition went from earth to hell and back.

Several months ago, my comic shop moved from being on my way home to over by the Mall where I never trave. This made me miss several issues and not read many of them.

Granted, since Angel took over the pencilling from Capullo, my interest in the comic has been pedestrian at best.

Recently, I picked up several of the comics I was missing, and re-read the previous 6 issues along with the current #147.

**** SPOILERS AHEAD ****

Despite the hit-and-miss artwork, the story is actually quite decent.

Mammon (Scratch) set up the girl who was helping Al (no longer burned and hamburger head looking). She had "borrowed" a thread of Al's costume (actually a thread of his soul) and used it to travel to Hell and free the damned soul of a childhood friend.

In the process, she brings Redeemer (the cool one with the wings) back from hell. He and Spawn fight and Spawn cuts redeemer's wings off, returning him to the form of a child. (He was the kid who killed his abusive father).

After double crossing the girl, Mammon has erased Spawn's memory and is using him as a pawn to try and get the throne of heaven.

I bring all this up as I wonder if the new animation will reference any of this, or will be completely separate.

Hit or miss art? The only good art through the issues you described were Jfoto's and Nat Jones' art...Medina's art was shit.


SOOOOOOOOO glad he's leaving, Tan is such a badass. Got me a nice scetch by him at the Con to boot...he actually is eager to start.
